SATURDAY, October 31 @ 12:20 A.M.

picture this: the winds are too strong, the sound they make are a tad creepy. galvanized roofing are flying everywhere, trees and plants are starting to get uprooted, and my poor puppy bailey is whimpering in fear… so what do you do when a super typhoon packs a helluva wind and strikes your little town on hallow’s eve, which began at early dawn?

you don’t sleep.  

naturally, napuyat ako. I slept the whole day, skipped lunch and wake up intermittently just to go to the bathroom for water breaks. that afternoon, tffee was supposed to attend the trick or treat party at the island cove because we didn’t have any celebration in my place of work. since this is the case, I never bothered to have a new costume made for her. I also didn’t know if her angel gown (an old one) was available, and my sis-in-law didn’t advise me if she was able to find it at all. in short, I thought my date with tffee was totally called off.

MONDAY (a holiday),  Nov. 2nd @ 8:00 A.M.

tffee said her gown was ready that saturday. but since she didn’t see me (I was sleeping, remember), she thought we weren’t going to island cove anymore. oh, no! my niece wasn’t able to go trick or treatin’ and it’s getting clear as the skies after typhoon “santi” hit that this is all MY fault! darnnitt.

to make up for it, I bought treats that same day and packed individual bags which I then handed over to all our kamag-anaks within our family compound. I asked tffee to dress up, and I put facepaints on her face haphazardly. she merrily went house-hopping and filled her neon green pumpkin bag to the brim with goodies. the little girl was a happy “moo-moo”.

and that’s how the scripted trick or treatin’ ended that beautiful november afternoon. good times

I am still HERE! floating by, but still very much here. let’s see… in my last post below I did say I was gonna be back. but alas, hindi nangyari. what gives?

I will not make another set of excuses, because my case remains the same. and for all that happened during the typhoon-ridden month of october, I apologize. for all my personal windfalls (got sick, got busy, got lito, got sick again, got hilo) during the past month, I apologize. and to all my loyal readers who are my dear friends, I apologize. it’s not fun jumping from one blog to another only to land on a stale blog entry (ouch!). total waste of time, noh?

and to quote the illustrious senator jovito salonga during the mar-korina (or is it kori-mar? haha. ) wedding:

“near-perfect, but not perfect. so long as we are humans, we can never be perfect.”

makes sense to me. 

anyway, I have a few projects coming out of the scraproom. these are all I’ve got. hopefully as the day progresses, so does my blogging.

CARNIVORE ALERT!

it’s now official: SM, they don’t have it all.

I just recently found out, as in yesterday lang, that monterey has pulled-out from SM bacoor. I surmised it’s a nationwide move, given the experiences I had with some other products that have managed to stay afloat in the consumer world even after “leaving” the giant known as SM.

take drypers diapers, for example. and if I am not mistaken, colgate too. these products aren’t in any SM grocery shelves anymore. and if I were to believe my sources, it all boils down to the issue of the latter charging astronomical fees for these products’ retention in all the SM supermarkets, including the SM hypermart.

what’s going on, SM? pera in favor of quality na ba talaga ang labanan? 

anyway. noynoy aquino is making his decision known anytime now. to run for prez or not, today is a monumental day for noynoy. the siblings will be strategically in different places in the philippines to attend special masses for tita cory’s 40th day death commemoration. I think they’re mobilizing themselves for another obvious reason. I will vote for the guy. even if a lot of skeptics would say that he is not yet ready for the presidency, etc, etc. why, his mother was also a plain housewife then, but she did make a difference, didn’t she? I’m taking my chance for a fresh start at anything right now.
